What is the Helper?
💡
What is the Affogata Helper?
The Helper is an AI-powered chat widget built into your dashboard. It lets you ask questions about your data in plain language - like "What are the top complaints this week?" or "Why did negative sentiment spike on Tuesday?" It analyzes your data in context and gives you a direct answer with supporting evidence.
🔍
Where do I find the Helper?
You can access it three ways: (a) Click the Helper icon in the left sidebar menu, (b) Hover over any widget, topic, keyword, or data point on the dashboard and click the Helper icon that appears, (c) Open it directly at app.affogata.com/n/helper. The second method is most powerful because it pre-loads context from the widget you're looking at.
Using the Helper Effectively
💬
What kinds of questions can I ask?
Almost anything about your data. Examples: "What are players saying about the new update?", "Summarize the top negative themes this week", "Compare sentiment between Discord and Reddit", "What drove the engagement spike on March 15?", "Give me 5 key insights for my weekly report". The more specific your question, the better the answer.
📌
What are pinned prompts?
Pinned prompts are saved questions you use frequently. Instead of typing the same analysis request every week, pin it once and reuse it with a single click. You can create custom prompts and share them across your team. Great for standardizing weekly reports or recurring analysis workflows.
🎯
How do I get the best results from Helper?
Three tips: (a) Be specific - "What are the top 3 negative themes on Reddit this week?" works better than "What's happening?", (b) Use it from a widget - hover over a sentiment spike or cluster on the dashboard and launch Helper from there. It automatically gets context about what you're looking at, (c) Set a timeframe - "in the last 7 days" or "since the March update" helps narrow the analysis.
Helper vs Conversation Clusters
🧩
When should I use Helper vs Conversation Clusters?
This is the most common question! Use Helper for quick, specific questions on a subset of your data (e.g., drilling into one topic or one time period). Use Conversation Clusters for comprehensive weekly analysis across ALL your data. Think of Helper as your research assistant and Clusters as your automated weekly report. Helper works on hundreds to thousands of data points. Clusters process tens of thousands.
⚠️
What are the Helper's limitations?
The Helper works on a subset of your dashboard data, not the entire dataset. It's not designed to process 1M+ data points at once - that's what Conversation Clusters are for. If you ask a very broad question ("analyze everything from the last 6 months"), you'll get better results from Clusters. Also, Helper responses are AI-generated, so always verify critical data points in the actual search.
Advanced Tips
📊
Can I use Helper for my weekly report?
Yes! Create a pinned prompt like: "Give me a weekly community report covering: top 5 discussion topics, sentiment trend, notable positive/negative highlights, and any emerging issues." Run it every week from your main dashboard for consistent reporting. Share the prompt with your team so everyone uses the same format.
🔗
Can I share Helper results?
You can copy and paste Helper responses into Slack, email, or documents. The insights are generated in plain text that's easy to share. For more formal reporting, use Helper to draft key points, then polish them for your audience.
